01
Introduction
This policy explains what information Tonle collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It covers the tonle.co website and the managed website service we provide to customers.
We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, please ask us.
02
Who operates Tonle and how to reach us
Tonle is a website building and management service operating from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is part of the same family as Tonle Systems.
Either of these is the right place to send a privacy question or request.
03
Information you give us
Most of what we hold is information you send us on purpose. When you fill in the form to start a site, we ask for things such as:
- your name and, if you have one, your business name;
- the web address you would like (for example yourname.tonle.co);
- contact details — Telegram, phone or WhatsApp number, and email;
- what you do and what you want the site to help you achieve;
- links to your existing profiles or website;
- notes about the style and personality you want;
- how you heard about Tonle, and who referred you if anyone did.
You do not need to create an account or a password to do this.
04
Content for your website
To build and maintain your site we receive the material you want published — photographs, logos, text, prices, opening hours, listings, files and similar content.
Please only send us content you have the right to publish. If your content includes information about other people (for example photographs of customers or staff), you are responsible for having their permission.
05
Messages, support and update requests
The service works by you sending us changes. When you message us on Telegram or by email, we keep those messages and any attachments so we can carry out the work and keep a record of what was asked for. Those conversations sit inside the messaging platform you contacted us on, under that platform's own terms.
06
Analytics and technical information
We use Google Analytics (property G-W6DCCKR15K) on our own pages to understand how the site is used. Through it we may see information such as:
- which pages were viewed and in what order;
- approximate location, as derived by Google from IP address;
- device, browser and screen information;
- how you arrived — for example a search engine, a link or a social post;
- interactions on the page that we have configured as events.
We see this as aggregated reporting. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you by name, and it does not tell us who you are. Google processes this data as described in Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
We also run a Google Ads tag (conversion ID AW-18433103351) on the same pages. It is used to measure whether an advertisement led to a completed website brief, so we can tell which advertising is worth paying for. It reports those actions to Google Ads and, where Google supports it, may be used for advertising measurement or audiences.
We use the Meta Pixel (Pixel ID 982185634907456) on Tonle's own marketing pages to measure visits and whether a Meta advertisement led to a completed site application. We also use LeadConnector / GoHighLevel External Tracking to record page activity, campaign attribution and supported form submissions in our CRM so we can follow up with enquiries.
07
Cookies and similar technologies
Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta may use cookies or similar browser technologies to measure visits and attribute advertising. LeadConnector / GoHighLevel also records page and form activity for CRM attribution. Separately, the site stores your language choice (English or Khmer) and short-lived campaign attribution in browser storage so those settings can carry across Tonle pages.
You can block or delete cookies and browser storage in your browser settings. Core site content will still work, although advertising attribution may be less accurate.
08
How we use information
We use what we collect to:
- design, build, publish and maintain your website;
- reply to you and carry out the changes you ask for;
- send you your preview and let you know when something is live;
- manage your plan, invoices and payment status;
- credit referrals where someone named you as a referrer;
- understand how the tonle.co site is used and improve it;
- keep the service secure and deal with misuse.
We do not sell your information.
09
Information that becomes public
Your website is public by design. Anything you ask us to publish — your name, photographs, prices, contact details, listings — can be seen by anyone who visits it, and may be indexed by search engines.
If your site is listed on our Explore page, your name, what you do, your city and a preview of your site appear there too. Tell us if you would rather not be listed.
10
Service providers we use
We use a small number of third-party services to run Tonle. The ones currently in use are:
- Google Workspace tooling — form submissions are received by a Google Apps Script web app, recorded in Google Sheets, and any files you upload are stored in Google Drive. Notification emails about new submissions are sent through the same Google account.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads — website measurement and advertising attribution, as described above.
- Meta — advertising measurement through the Meta Pixel on Tonle's own pages.
- LeadConnector / GoHighLevel — CRM page, attribution and supported external-form tracking.
- Telegram — when you choose to contact us there.
- Email — for correspondence and notifications.
Each of these providers handles data under its own terms and privacy policy.
11
Links to other places
Our pages link to customer websites, to Tonle Systems, and to platforms such as Telegram and Facebook. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's service, and this policy no longer applies.
12
How long we keep information
We keep customer records for as long as we are building or managing a site for you, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can handle questions, invoicing and any return to the service.
Enquiries that do not become customers are kept while they are still useful to follow up, then removed.
If you want your information deleted sooner, ask us and we will do it where we are not required to keep it.
13
Security
We limit who on our team can reach customer information, and we rely on the account security of the established providers listed above.
No service can promise perfect security, and we will not claim otherwise. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will tell you.
14
Where information is processed
We work from Cambodia, and the providers we use are international companies that may process and store data on servers outside Cambodia. We have not verified the specific countries involved for each provider, so we do not list them here.
15
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete information we no longer need to keep;
- take content down from your website;
- remove your listing from Explore;
- stop sending you messages that are not needed to run your service.
Email hello@tonle.co and we will deal with it. Depending on where you live you may also have rights under local data protection law.
16
Children
Tonle is a service for people running work or a business, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will remove it.
17
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change is significant, we will tell existing customers directly.
